Penn Leads the Vote

Penn Leads the Vote (PLTV) is a student-run, non-partisan, voter mobilization effort at the University of Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to increasing the number of registered students and encouraging them to go to the polls on Election Day. PLTV further institutionalizes a voting culture on campus by saturating campus with registration forms, reaching out to students through new media, staffing the on-campus polling locations, and decorating campus for Election Day. We also work closely with Dr. DiIulio’s PSCI 130: Introduction to American Politics Class. Join PLTV by sending us an email or find PLTV on Locust Walk before the registration deadline of October 4th, 2010!

Penn Leads the Vote has proved successful since its foundation:

  • 2004 – PLTV was founded when Jason Oberman and Farrah Fries saw the potential for significant change in civic engagement on campus. PLTV generated a 280% increase in campus turnout while other local campuses struggled to break 20%.
  • 2006 – PLTV lead 1,521 students to vote on campus in the Midterm Election, three times the turnout in 2002 (509 students voting on campus).
  • 2008 – PLTV repeated our successes by achieving 89.6%* turnout among on-campus voters.

Why do we vote?

Well, why wouldn't we?
